What inspired you to pursue a career in healthcare?
“I’ve always known I wanted to help people.”
How did you become interested in aesthetics and wellness medicine?
“I started to gain a real interest in aesthetics when I started doing treatments myself. I was on a journey of revitalizing my skin and that interest grew into a passion. I was amazed on how aesthetic treatments can create such a huge transformation. Wellness followed suit naturally. We can only look as great as we feel. By combining both, aesthetics and wellness, I’ve been able to witness true transformations.”
“What led you to open Luminess Med Spa?”
“For the same reason I started in healthcare, I want to help people. I wanted to be able to witness the transformation that comes from aesthetics and wellness medicine. By opening my own practice, I’m able to set a standard in care. Often times, healthcare standards vary by office. I’ve seen practices that drive business by sales alone and that philosophy bleeds into patient care. I wanted to create a space for clients to feel heard, a space where we build trust to achieve the results we want, and a space that feels safe.”

Irene is a highly skilled CRNA(Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) and APRN(Advanced Practice Registered Nurse) who has dedicated more than 23 years to medical anesthesia and needle-based procedures.

How would you describe your approach to aesthetics?
“I believe aesthetic treatments were made to improve and enhance. There are some clients who want to look like they’ve had treatments/work done and that is perfectly okay! Everyone’s view on beauty standards are different. For me, I love a natural look for myself and for my clients. Each and everyone of my patients are beautiful in their own way. My job is to help reveal and revitalize that beauty that has been there all along.”
What do you want patients to feel when they look in the mirror?
“I want clients feeling gorgeous, confident and most importantly like themselves. With a total body wellness approach, I want clients to not only look their best but I want them to feel just as great as well.”
Why Wellness Matters

Irene believes that you will only look just as good as you feel. Aesthetic treatments are great to address most concerns, but sometimes their true solution lies beneath the surface.
Why is it important to address wellness in addition to appearance?
“Our body will look it’s best when it feels it’s best. When our hormones are out of wack, that takes a toll on our energy, our metabolism, and our skin. Unbalanced hormones can show up as dry, flaking skin while vitamin deficiencies can show up as dark circles and dullness. It’s important to address what’s happening internally to get a true corrective solutions.

“I love hormone optimization. Working with a patient to balance hormones and making them feel great is the best! I also love CO2!
Which treatment creates the biggest transformation for patients?
“Anything from our wellness services. It’s truly inspiring to see clients go from feeling stuck in their lives with no energy, brain fog, or no motivation to then seeing the same patient start to light up, that’s always the best transformation.”
What treatment do you think is most underrated?
“Sculptra!! Sculptra is such an amazing treatment to address lost volume in the face. Tons of patients want that instant gratification, which I totally get, but the results are amazing once they set in.”

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
“ I enjoy spending time with my family. I know everyone says that but it’s true! I love spending time with my kids on the soccer fields, on vacations, or just at home.”
What is your favorite self-care practice?
“My favorite self-care practice is CrossFit. I am up everyday at 4:00 a.m. to get to the gym to work out. It’s therapeutic and keeps my body running as it should. It also keeps me in a routine, when I’m not there but whole schedule is out of wack.”
What is one thing patients might be surprised to learn about you?
“Something that might surprise patients is that I used to be a ballerina when I was younger. I danced up until college.”
What is your favorite part about serving the Jacksonville community?
“I love that Jacksonville feels small sometimes. It’s a huge city and yet it feels like such a small town. Everyone knows someone who knows someone. Which to some might be a bad thing but I like it. “
